FAQ
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
In Southwest Michigan and frequently serve Alaska, Oregon, Utah, national parks, and beyond.
WHAT IS YOUR EDITING STYLE?
Emily’s aim is to keep things natural and timeless; the grass green, the sky blue, etc. I highly value: accurate coloring, symmetry, well-lit/sharp faces, true whites, minimal distractions, and logical cropping. I do not outsource my editing to anyone, ever.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?
Over 11 years! I shot my very first wedding in July 2011.
HOW DO YOU PROTECT IMAGES?
I shoot on two memory cards simultaneously. After your wedding, all RAW images are backed-up in at least three separate locations (one being a fireproof/waterproof safe). Yes, I have insurance.
WE AREN’T SURE ON LOCATION YET. CAN YOU HELP?
Heck yes! I pride myself on being an expert resource to couples in many forms. I know what to look for in a location and will help give you personalized suggestions and advice based on many factors.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN WE BOOK?
The furthest we book in the future is 18 months. Many couples book between 8-12 months out. Last minute inquiries are welcome! Head to the contact page to fill out the form to check availability + get the ball rolling.
DO YOU SHOOT WEDDINGS WITH MORE THAN 20 GUESTS?
Yes, I take a couple per year. I’d love to talk to you about yours!
HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOGRAPHS?
I will give you a mixture of color and black and white photos. All the high-resolution digital JPEG files will be delivered to you through a private shareable online gallery. There is no limit to the number of photographs you will receive. It will probably be more than you’re thinking. From the thousands that will be taken, I will hand-pick all the best images, by getting rid of any duplicates, misfires, or images with poor lighting. I’d be happy to send over some full galleries for you to browse through.
WHAT KIND OF GEAR DO YOU USE?
Two Canon R6 bodies. All Canon L series lenses: 35mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 24mm 1.4, and 24-70mm 2.8.
ARE YOU MARRIED?
Yep! And it’s the best thing ever. We tied the knot under a huge Catalpa tree back in May 2015.
